He is a member of the Education Council of the Netherlands, the advisory body of the Dutch government and parliament. His work focuses on educational theory and policy, with a strong interest in curriculum, teachers and teaching, democracy and citizenship, arts education and religious education. His work has so far been published in 21 languages.
